" 'Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge.' " (Luke 11:52a)
Luke wrote what some have called “the loveliest book in the world!” It being his feast day, I would like to share a few things about him that are really remarkable.
Heavenly Father, it is with great joy that we come together to learn about you and your son. We ask for your help that we can resist all the negative temptations of the outside world and work towards finding the peace within ourselves than can only come from following you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.
Heavenly and most faithful God, hear our prayers, as we live our lives on this earth. Help us to understand your ways. Give us the graces we need that your Holy Spirit might come in and gift us with your gifts. Turn our stony hearts to lovers hearts that we may love you in all your creations through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord, help us to be more understanding of our role as your disciples. May we learn from your examples of compassion and love to be mindful of others and of ourselves.
"The Lord is a refuge for His people." (Joel 3:16)
God we thank you for always being there, watching out for us. We ask you today to remove fear from our lives. Help us to walk with courage in your love and mercy, especially when things in this world have us unsure and scared.
Dear and generous Father, we seek your blessing on us this day, send your spirit to fill our hearts, help us to be your loving children to the world around us.
"Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."
Loving God calm our anxious hearts, give us deep calm and peace as we work for your kingdom here on earth. We ask this through Jesus Christ.
Lord, help me to be a neighbor to others.
" 'Keep on doing what you have learned and received and ... the God of peace will be with you.' " (Philippians 4:9)
“Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling; naked, come to thee for dress; helpless, look to thee for grace; foul, I to the fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die.” (Methodist Hymnal 361: “Rock of Ages”)
Dear Jesus, give us ears that we may hear you, give us sight that we may see you in all we meet this day.
God we thank you today for food. We know that not everyone has enough to eat in this world, but we thank you for your blessings on us that allow us to eat. We pray that as we continue sharing the good news of your Word we are always fed physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
"Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take nothing of what you have received, but only what you have been given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage."
Loving God, thank you for the gift of your son Jesus. Help us to give unconditionally with an open heart and open mind and be able to answer your call with obedience and graciousness. Send you Holy Spirit to those who have said no to your kingdom and open their hearts to your son so that they can know a peace that only comes from loving and serving you. In Jesus’ name we pray
Father, help us to know how much you desire to have s relationship with us.
Truly I tell you the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into kingdom of God ahead of you,” Matthew 22: 31.
