“Remember the journey.” Most of the time, what keeps us going, what enables a person to persevere in life, is not merely the final goal, but the awareness of how far we have come, how long the journey has been, and how unworthy it would be to abandon and waste all the effort already made. The recognition of the absurdity of giving up becomes essential and crucial for perseverance.
Equally meaningful is the insight of the great theologian Henri de Lubac, who understood the ecclesial assembly as the Mystical Body of Christ. Therefore, partaking of the Body of Christ does not mean only receiving the Eucharist; it also means becoming one with the Mystical Body of Christ, which is the Church.
Today, the Lord invites us to look at our lives with new eyes. Even in the deserts of life, God was present. Even in moments of trial, He sustained us. And He continues to walk with us today in the Bread of the Eucharist.
May this feast renew our faith in the real presence of Jesus and give us the joy of being a pilgrim people, nourished by the Bread of Life.
