Now is the time to surrender the ground, that part of ourselves where divine ploughing is needed to make us fruitful. As we look at our lives, it is important to pause and ask ourselves: How much difference has the word of God made in my life? Are there fruits to show that the divine word has brought about a change in my personal world? It is only when the soil of our hearts is prepared to hold onto the word of God wholeheartedly that we will bear fruit.

PRAYER: Lord God, we come before you as an arid soil, thirsty for water. May your living word pour forth as rain into our hearts and cause the seed of holiness sown in us at baptism to fructify. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen
