"In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it." (JN 1:1-5)

We’ve all heard slogans like, “Keep Christ in Christmas,” and “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.”  Slogans help, but I think the BEST way to celebrate this Season is to realize what we’re singing or hearing about in our traditional RELIGIOUS carols---and now you can add “The Twelve Days of Christmas” to that list!  Keep a song in your heart this year, and God bless us, one and all!

“Lord, now let your servant go in peace; your word has been fulfilled:  my own eyes have seen the salvation which you prepared in the sight of every people…” (Lk 2: 29-31)

Lord, we thank you for the communion of saints, especially those like John who left a physical trail for us to follow.  We thank you for their zeal and their commitment, and we thank you mostly for their love.  We ask you to bestow upon us some of your love that we may take it with us and share it with whomever we meet.  Make us more open, and protect us from the fears of getting hurt while displaying your love to the world.  We ask this through
Christ our Lord. Amen.

"When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another,  “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place,  which the Lord has made known to us. ”So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this, they made known the message
that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them."
(Luke 2:15-20)

"Should YOU build ME a house to dwell in? . . . It was I who took YOU from the pasture and from the care of the flock to be commander of my people Israel."  (2 Samuel 7:5, 8)

Dec 20, 2014

Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.
All things are possible with God.
The dreams he placed in your heart, he put them for you to achieve.
The battle belongs to the Lord".

Lord, we thank you for the gift of silence.  We thank you for the grace to listen with open hearts to receive your mercy and love.  May our families be ever blessed by your presence and may all who trust in you find great joy in your holy name.  Amen.

Dec 14, 2014

Dec 9, 2014

"Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.” (mt 18:12-14)

"The Blessed Virgin Mary in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin."  (Pius IX's Ineffabilis Deus)

Our world doesn’t like waiting, does it? We anticipate holidays in the stores weeks – or even months – before the day itself. Look when they started putting Christmas things on the shelves and playing Christmas music.
But Advent is the season of waiting, waiting for our God to become incarnate in our world….by choosing to come as a baby.
