He believed in dreams and acted on those he experienced himself, sometimes with remarkable perspicacity. He faced obstacles from all quarters including an Archbishop and Cardinal or too. In his life time he endured a near stabbing; he was bludgeoned and even shot at but he was not to be deterred.
“You are a priest forever, in the line of Melchizedek” (Psalm 110:4),
"He said to them in reply,
“Who are my mother and my brothers?”
And looking around at those seated in the circle he said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of God
is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mark 3:34-35)
Today we remember a giant of a man. He had a driving intellect that would rival the intelligence of any man who has ever lived. His name was Thomas Aquinas. and he came from an Italian town near Naples Italy. He lived his 49 years of life from 1225 to 1274.
"For in one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free people, and we were given to drink of one Spirit." (1Cor 12: 13)
For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame
the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice
but rather of power and love and self-control.
(2 Timothy 1:6-7)
Today we celebrate Paul’s conversion and one of those turning points in history. There is actually no mention of a horse in this story of Paul’s conversion but sometimes the remarkable story of “change-of-life” sees that equine presence more than the fact of the radical turning point in Paul’s life itself.
From the time the son of God our lovely Jesus came to earth as a man until this day he’s caused a change in human history and not only that but change in each of our hearts….from the people that saw him in person more than two thousand years ago until today….where we might not see him in human form but we feel his holly spirit and we see the change in the hearts and lives of people.
Faith in the book of Hebrews, the same book from today's first readings, defines faith as a belief in what we have no proof for. No matter what we need we must believe. That is what we are told time and time again. Have faith like a child.
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” (Mark 2: 27)
“No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse. Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins.” (Mark 2: 21-22)
“They have no wine!” (John 2: 3)
"Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus answered "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners." (Mark 2:16-17)
We should always do our best to help others. I am amazed at the impact that this had had in my life and in others. I never thought I would have the power to help someone, or the patience. But it is a power and gift that comes from the Holy Spirit that lets me say the right words to them.
Anthony died at the age of 36 due to edema. He was cannonized in less than one year after his death. He was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in January 1946. St Anthony is venerated all over the world as the Patron Saint for lost articles, and is credited with many miracles involving lost people, lost things and even lost spiritual goods.
“Since the children share in blood and Flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life.” (HEB 2:14-15)
“His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.” (Mark 1:28)
How many of us are ready for when God calls us? Maybe he has several times….. but we weren’t ready or willing. Imagine if the apostles would have not gone with Jesus when he called them. What if they would have not been humble or willing?
"Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,
Heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:21-22)

"If anyone says, "I love God" but hates his brother (or sister),he is a liar." (1 John 4: 20)
“Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!” (Mark 6:50)
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, my ways are not your ways ." ( Isaiah 55:8)
"Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles,
the people who sit in darkness." (Matthew 4:15-16)
